Twenty Mule Team Museum
26962 Twenty Mule Team Road
Boron, CA 93516
(760) 762-5810

Located next to the Colonel Vernon P. Saxon Aerospace Museum in downtown Boron, the Twenty Mule Team Museum is dedicated to acquiring, documenting and exhibiting mining artifacts and historic memorabilia pertaining the history of borax mining and the lifestyles of the individuals involved in borax mining in Boron and Death Valley. These historic displays and archives are intended for the personal enjoyment and enlightenment of visitors to the Boron and High Desert areas, as well as, a historical reference and research tool for students and educators.

The construction of the museum's facilities was the culmination of several years of hard work and dedication by the Boron Chamber of Commerce and the citizens of Boron. The museum building is actually an old restored staff house used at the Baker mining encampment when Pacific Coast Borax discovered one of the richest deposits of borax just north of present day Boron and relocated its mining operations in the late 1920s. All of the mining artifacts and equipment, antique machinery, one-of-a-kind art work and unique displays depicting the early years of the history of Boron and Death Valley have been generously donated to the museum through the continued support of the community and local businesses.

The Twenty Mule Team Museum was officially dedicated on August 4, 1984 and recently celebrated it's 20th anniversary. The Boron Chamber of Commerce takes great pride in preserving the rich and unique history of the borax mining industry that our town was founded upon. When traveling through the Mojave Desert please take a few moments to visit our tribute to an era and lifestyle many have forgotten.
